But then it's been a weird old week for TVNZ.

It's ex-presenters keep turning up in the strangest of places - Richard Long presiding over the camp excesses of Palmerston North and Mike Hosking getting shafted by the Court of Appeal. At least Hosking had an excuse. His family had been stalked by the paparazzi - which, in Auckland, consists of some gay guy with a rubbish bag fixation. No wonder he was seeking protection. Or a better photographer.

By contrast, Long had none. The Rocky Horror Show is so passe that the Hamilton City Council is erecting a statue to its founder.

And surely that which Hamilton finds cultural is automatically plaque-worthy.

Well, except in Palmerston North, where a few butch guys dressing in stilettos is called entertainment.
They need to get out more.
