Waipa Mayor Alan Livingston said the statue [of a mare and foal] was the crowning moment of a major Cambridge upgrade which has seen the CBD, Town Hall and Cenotaph all undergo renovation in the last few years.

"I can assure you it is Cambridge quality, not Hamilton riff raff," he said, in a pointed reminder of the arguments in Hamilton about the merits of a statue in the city to honour Rocky Horror Picture Show creator, former Hamiltonian Richard O'Brien.
