The mould is about to be cast. Hamilton City Council communications and marketing manager Philip Burton said the clay replica for casting Hamilton's bronze statue of the Rocky Horror Picture Show's butler Riff Raff had been made.
The life-sized statue honouring Rocky Horror's writer and Riff Raff actor Richard O'Brien, formerly from Hamilton, is on target to be unveiled on Victoria St at the end of November.
It is being made by Weta Workshop, which is currently also working on Peter Jackson's latest movie, King Kong, in Wellington.
The statue is the first piece of public art resulting from Hamilton's art in public places policy, set up to encourage more art in the city.
The work has been funded $100,000 by the Perry Foundation and $25,000 by council.
